Gateway Arch

The "Gateway Arch" of Volterra goes back to the period between the fourth and third centuries BC
Made of different materials and construction techniques, a sign of many changes that occurred over the centuries, the port has a cover stone arch, decorated on the outside wall of three sculptures in the shape of human head. The posts are made of blocks of sandstone and are dated to the fourth century. B.C.
The three heads and bow were instead made between the third and second century. a. C. is one of the most famous architectural monuments of the Etruscan period of this city.
